As part of Project Materia, an ongoing exploration of materiality, Louise Roe Andersen presents a contribution that reflects the ongoing dialogue between tradition and experimentation that defines her practice. Her work is characterised by clean lines, sculptural silhouettes, and a refined approach to materiality — each piece balancing functionality with an artistic sensibility.
Created in collaboration between Tableau and Edition Solenne, Project Materia brings together nine internationally renowned artists working across disciplines to engage with three foundational materials: bronze, marble, and glass.
“I’m drawn to the tension between material and form — to pushing against the expected, or amplifying the essence of a material through shape. Sometimes, by exaggerating or refining the form, the material itself begins to speak more clearly. It becomes not just another object, but a voice or a sound that demands a certain reverence and carries the full weight of expression.” – LOUISE ROE ANDERSEN
The Amphora Glass Vase is a refined expression of contemporary glass artistry, balancing technical mastery with historical references. The tall, elliptical shape brings a sense of stillness and refinement, while suspended air bubbles within the object evoke a sense of captured breath — a frozen moment from the glassblowing process.
Collecta Verde is a sculptural fruit object - a bowl or tray to gather vitality and bloom, composed of clustered spheres, hand-carved from richly veined green marble. The name, Collecta Verde (“green gathering”) speaks to the object’s dual nature - at once architectural and biological, structured and soft. The clustering form appears as if grown together rather than shaped - an accretion of smooth volumes evoking seeds, cells, or a botanical bloom.
